We went to my husbands parents to take his mom to church and help her decipher some of her stacks of surgery bills and make copies for her to send off. Plus spend some time with his dad.
Afterwards, we went to Wal-mart to get her a couple things and shop for ourselves. Hubby said do you want me to drop you off at the door and I will go park? I said if you want and he did. I got my cart and walked into the store, well they had some fresh corn as you walked in. They also had a demo of hotdogs and some cheese dip or something. Well, my son says hot dogs and before I could stop him he grabs a plate and proceeds to take a bite. Everything was fine and I started peeling some corn, I turn around to see him with this look on his face and I knew something was wrong, he started shaking his hands and I realized he could not breathe he was choking! I quick spun him around, bent him over and started pounding on his back with the palm (heel) of my hand. Thank god it dislodged and came out of his mouth. If not I had to be ready to do the Heimlich on him, I was so scared!! Hubby had walked into the store when it was all over. Someone from the store came over and asked if he was ok. Thank god there was also another demo person right by because if I needed help there was enough of people around. Gosh, I don’t think I had ever been so scared in my life!
My son is 11 and has special needs, we always had to keep a watch on him while he ate because he had a tendecny to just take big bits of everything. But he has been good for a while. There have been several close calls but this was the worst. The poor kid got so scared, because here is his mom standing in the store hitting him with some force on the back.
What a Father’s Day!
