Safari Palz Card and New Design Team Spot

13 Aug

I’ve recently been accepted for a new Design Team spot with ScrappyDew Creations. This is my first project using their files. I apologize for the photos, it is very dark and rainy today.

This is an action card based on a tutorial that Dena posted on her blog Here. If you have not been to her blog I suggest you check it out. She’s very talented!

This card will be for my nephew for his birthday, he loves animals. I used ScrappyDew Safari Palz files. On the rocks I used a Stylus to give the rocks a curved shape. I applied Stickles on the leaves and used an embossing folder on the crocodile. I also added a tree to the back of the card with some additional grass. This is what the back of the card looks like.

The lever on the right is what makes the monkey move up and down when the card opens and closes. The tab on the left is a support when the card is open. That does get glued to the front back of the card.

For the front of my card, I used Porky’s Font for the sentiment and adhered it to the mat I created in MTC. I also applied Stickles to the sentiment and the snake.

You’ll notice the monkey is in the down position when the card is closed and then moves up into the tree when the card is open.

If anyone would like the card file you can download it Here. You can go to Dean’a Blog for a tutorial on how to put the card together. She’s given me permission to create the file. Also, if you use it please give credit to her as well.

Supplies Used:

Bazzill Card Stock
Stickles
Card Stock

Michelle

    thank you Brigit and Dena.

I first cut it out in white card stock to test it out and just get a feel on how the card would work.
When creating my actual card, I did glue all my paper pieces on the card first and then glued the support and attached the monkey last. I think that worked out pretty good. But it is a time consuming card. Definitely takes more time than your average card.

I could not have created it without your tutorial Dean, thanks for sharing it.
